Another Jar of Flowers

Sometimes I just like to scroll through Pinterest to get some inspiration when I’m not sure what I want to create. Sometimes I CASE (copy and share everything) exactly as it appears or sometimes I like to change it up a little bit. But mostly, I just use it as a platform to jump off into my own direction completely. This card is a little bit of the first two. The original card that inspired me was created by Vicki Burdick and you can see it here.

I used a standard 1/2 A4 sheet in Magenta Madness for the card base. I cut and placed the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper (DSP) leaving a narrow strip of the base card highlighted on either side. The flowers are coloured with Flirty Flamingo light and dark Blends, because I just felt the Magenta Madness Blends would be too extremely bright and ‘in your face‘, and I didn’t want that for this card. Other colours used are So Saffron, Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green. If you look closely, you can see a little pop of the Magenta Madness in the berries, because I couldn’t leave it off completely.

I used the Jar Punch to cut it out the jar and then fussy cut the flowers. The jar is raised on dimensionals and the flowers are double-stacked with them to raise them higher. I often forget that this is a technique that can be used to give greater depth.

As there are no sentiments in the Jar of Flowers stamp set, I used one from Life is Beautiful (available in the current Holiday catalogue) and cut the banner ends with the Lovely Labels Pick-a-Punch. Add some background texture from Tasteful Texture 3D embossing folder, and adhere it with dimensionals too. A scattering of the In Colour Enamel Dots in Magenta Madness just finish it off nicely.

Again, the hardest part of this card is having to fussy cut out the flowers.

There are a lot of colours here, but I think they all work really well together, especially when most of them only have a supporting role. What do you think?
